Lappin DVM\n\n\n\nDr. Mike Lappin\, DVM was born and raised in Michigan where his family always had dogs.  One of his favorites was “Fred\,” a Beagle that he and his brother taught to bark\, earning the ire of his mother. He graduated from Parchment High School in 1966\, and continued on to Michigan State University\, where he graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1972. He moved to Massachusetts to begin his professional career at the Kingston Animal Hospital. Dr Lappin opened his own practice in 1992 in Buzzards Bay\, MA. After a name change in 1992\, “The Animal House” came into being. \n\n\n\nDr Lappin became  involved in dog training through his veterinary practice and began training his own Golden Retrievers in the early 1990’s.  He and his first Golden Retriever\, “Tess\,” discovered Agility in the mid 90’s and began competing shortly after.  Tess retired at the age of 12 years.  He is currently training and showing his 4th and 5th Golden Retrievers\, “Scarlett” and “Costello” in Agility\, Obedience\, and Rally Obedience.  Mike and his past and current “kids” have achieved numerous obedience and agility titles. \n\n\n\nA member of Yankee Golden Retriever Club\, he is on the Board of Directors and has served as their Obedience Committee chair.  He is also a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America. He has served as the Vice President of the Golden Retriever Foundation.  Dr. Lappin continues serving the Foundation as their DNA collection officer.  He has been instrumental in the Foundation’s efforts to collect DNA from Golden Retrievers to be used for health research.  With his efforts there have been over 2000 samples banked at the OFA-CHIC DNA bank\, more than any other breed of dog. Dr. Lappin also became an American Kennel Club judge of agility\, and rally obedience in 2004 to round out his “giving back to the sport” philosophy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nemail DNA clinic

NO REFUNDS after this date.  LATE registration will continue up to Sept 18 which may be at a higher cost\, depending on clinic.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\n\nDr. Wendy Townsend\, a primary researcher into PU\, will be performing ultrasounds of Golden Retriever eyes. This non-invasive procedure is not painful and has the potential to provide critical information for continuing research into this disease. Dr. Townsend will examine any Golden Retriever – healthy eyes or otherwise – 4 years and older. Goldens without pedigrees or those from a rescue situation are more than welcome to become a part of this research project. \n\n\n\nGolden Retrievers 12 years and older and those previously seen at PU clinics are encouraged to participate in this year’s clinic. The clinic is limited to 125 dogs. Appointments will be arranged once judging schedules are announced. Please download the following form and submit to 20******************@***il.com   to complete the preregistration process. \n\n\n\n\nPU Consent Form\n\n\n\n\nThis clinic is free but requires pre-registration \n\n\n\nQuestions: 20******************@***il.com \n\n\n\nWalk ins welcome as time allows for each clinic.  \n\n\n\nClinic days/times are subject to change based on interest. \n\n\n\nAll Goldens attending the clinic must be well behaved and leashed at all times \n\n\n\nAbout the Doctor: Dr. Wendy Townsend\, DVM\, MS\, DACVO\n\n\n\nDr. Wendy Townsend\, DVM\, MS\, DACVO\, (ophthalmology) associate professor of ophthalmology in Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences\, has focused her career and research in veterinary medicine on diagnosing and treating eye conditions in animals. “The most common question I get is if we fit animals with glasses\,” Dr. Townsend says. “While that’s not what we do\, our goal is to help animals see better and improve their  quality of life if they’re having issues.” \n\n\n\nAlthough her patients span a variety of species\, her research is focused on a particular breed of dog that reigns as one of the most popular dog breeds in America: Golden Retrievers.  Golden retriever pigmentary uveitis is a disease almost exclusively found in purebred Golden Retrievers. It’s an inherited form of uveitis (inflammation of the uveal tract\, which includes the iris). And though the disease is inherited\, the onset and diagnosis usually occurs when the dogs are older. \n\n\n\nDr. Townsend is strongly encouraging Golden Retrievers 12 years and older and those previously seen at PU clinics to participate in this year’s clinic. The clinic is limited to 125 dogs. Appointments will be arranged once judging schedules are announced. Downloadable forms need to be returned to 20******************@***il.com to complete the preregistration process. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nemail PU clinic
